In the pages below it is exactly what we have done for a group last year who had a lot of experience and physical/mental preparation ... not a trip for sisies ! What is on this page is more adapted to any one with a good level of downwind and some basic physical preparation ... with option of legs covering the same amount of kilometer but in taking more time ! But the trip would be the same apart a few twicks !

 

Discovering the untouched and almost unrevealed to the rest of the world we will enter a pretty wild area of the north of Brasil, filled with River mouth to cross, little wave spots, long internal rivers to ride along with flat water lagoons all the way. We will pass a lot of typical fishermen huts and have the opportunity to run some short excursions and sight-seeing local villages. This is pure outback territory with many wild animals to see. Explore the untouched interior of the river delta by boat and kite. We continue to the huge dune region getting closer to Atins, and explore the lagoons in the Lençóis Maranhese National Park, which looks like the Sahara Desert with lots of fresh water blue turquoise pocket of water.

DAY 1 JERICOACOARA - CAMOCIM/MACEO

(2 legs possible: jeri-tatajuba 23km & tatajuba-camocin/maceo 33km)

This is a downwind we performed uncountable times and we love it ... Easy, safe, the cars can follow us 95% of the time on the beach ... Its a variation of waves and flat water, plus little lagoons here and there ... Perfect to start up our trip and get used to the conditions ! In Guriu (depending on the tides) we will spend a bit of time playing in that fabulous flat water lagoon before reaching Tatajuba for our lunch break. We will then continue riding a consistent and little wave all the way to Camocim River, where we will pack and drive on the barge to cross, then to our pousada.

DAY 2 MACEO - BARRA GRANDE
(2 legs possible: Maceo-Bitupita 32km & Bitupita-Barra Grande 19km)

From Maceo & Camocim pousadas we can actually launch our kites and start our trips straight at the front of our accommodation. From there we will head of to Bitupita, where we will do our lunch break stop (first leg 32 km). Then We will continue another 19 km downwind to reach Barra Grande ... if the crew feels like (we can stop in Bitupita and drive to Barra Grande or only do the last leg 19 km). It will be a mix of waves and flat waters going along the beach passing just a few fishermen huts on the way not much more else ...  Nature to its most beautiful.

DAY 3 BARRA GRANDE - DELTA DO PARNAIBA
(2 legs possible: Barra Grande-Luiz Correia 26km & Luiz Correia Casa Do Caboclo 31km)

Our trip will start right at the front of our pousada where we can launch our kites and leave straight away for our downwind ... A few Km later we will walk over the dunes and play in this beautiful enclosed lagoon before to make our way to the next stop. The cars will only be able to catch up with us in Luiz correia, which is a big large beach with decent size waves all the way to the 2km Pier that stands at the end of this beach ... So you cant go pass that pier ... Here we will stop and have lunch break. Then we have  a few options ... or we keep on going to our arrival point and get picked up by the boat to our pousada ... or we can downwind and land just next to our pousada doing a 31 km downwind including 5km riding in the river delta till our pousada. It will depends on the level of the people and the tides and wind we will have to deal with !

DAY 4 DELTA DO PARNAIBA - TUTOIA, DELTA CROSSING !!
(3 legs possible: First Delta Entrance-Second Delta Entrance 24km & Second Delta Entrance-Third Delta Entrance 23km, to Tutoia 20km)

From the pousada we will take a boat till the entrance of river ... then Downwind. We are now crossing the Delta Do Parnaiba, can be pretty dangerous depending on the strength of the wind and the tides ... no cars can follow ... we are trying to get a boat to meet us at 2 points before to arrive in Tutoia. On the way we can kite in some sort of rio/lagoa in keeping going downwind (video you saw that my friend Andre shot with drone). After that we have a large river crossing where we wont be able to fuck up ... but right after that we have some real nice flat water around sandbars ... then another nice waves section till next river crossing ... just before to turn inside river to join Tutoia ... it is a tricky passage as it can be hard to cross and make it to Tutoia ... cars can come and pick us up further downwind just in case !

DAY 5 TUTOIA - ATINS
(2 legs possible: Tutoia-Paolino Neves 35km & Paolino Neves-Atins 25km) cars can join us and follow from PN to Cabure (just B4 Atins)

Downwind from Tutoia to Atins, a few river crossing and waves sections ... Then we will hopefully stop at Paolinho Neves to catch up with cars that will then follow on the beach to film, stop at cabure for the cars, load boat and cross by boat till atins, we will then keep downwinding all the way to Atins and land in front of bar/restaurant “The Barco” (a boat on the beach that has been transformed in a bar restorant).

DAY 6 ATINS DAY OFF !! ... EXPRESSION SESSION IN THE LAGOON

 

This day we will have a bit of a break and consider it as a DAY OFF. We will have some expression session in the lagoon or even downwind a little before coming back in atins. This spot is perfect for flat water as well as waves riding at the front of the river mouth. Atins is a really layback sort of village, really basic, few pousadas and restaurants ... nothing like Jeri but. We may do a downwind to Rio Negro (Lencois do Maranhao) ... depending on the conditions.

DAY 7 ATINS - RIO NEGRO - LENCOIS DO MARANHAO

26 km Downwind till middle of Lencois, depending on tides we can take on the inside of the lagoon and have great fun in the lagoon till we reach the end then walk over the sand dune and kite the ocean with a super nice wave section all the way to Rio Negro, the car we hired there will be following us all the way till where we stop to start walking inside the Lencois. Here we start our trek to the first lagoon (we can not kite anymore in the park so its all about the discovery by foot) have fun in the lagoon ... and lunch. We will then keep on walking till Baixa Grande where we will sleep in the Oasis in a large hut with hammocks only !! A sunset Aqua Safari is on the menu ... dinner and stars chasing !

DAY 8 Atins - Rio Negro (afternoon kitesurf session in the loagoon in Atins ... or just chill ... )

Morning trecking to the other lagoa, the car will pick us up on the beach to reach restaurant for lunch at the entrance of Atins. The best local prawns ever ! 14h Atins, kite session in the lagoon at the front of restaurant “O Barco” or just rest and enjoy the peaceful Atins.

DAY 9 Transfer back to Jericoacoara

From Atins we’ll take the boat to Cabure where the car will already be waiting for us. The ride goes over the main road directly back to Jijoca. In Jijoca we will organise a transport for you to bring you directly to your Pousada in Jericoacaora.

 

From Atins we will take a boat all the way to Cabure where the Cars are waiting for us ... transfer all the gear in the car and drive on the beach all the way to Paolino Neves, where we hit the asphalt and drive to Jericoacoara to your pousada ... the trip finishes here !
